Wu Lixin, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the Pilot National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology (Qingdao), was the keynote speaker. The talk attracted a large audience.&nbsp;<\/div><div><\/div><div>During the lecture, Wu explained the relationship between the Transparent Ocean and its digital twin as well as cutting-edge research in this field. He discussed the Transparent Ocean research programme developed by his team. The programme uses state-of-the-art technologies in ocean observation and exploration, mobile platforms, as well as artificial intelligence and big data technologies, to predict future changes in the ocean environment over a specific period of time in order to achieve a transparent status, a transparent process, and a transparent change.<\/div><div><\/div><div>Wu is a well-known oceanographer. He is currently the director of the Pilot National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology (Qingdao) and the vice president of Ocean University of China. In 2019, he received the Ambassador Award, the highest prize of Earth and Space Science Leadership from the American Geophysical Union (AGU) and became an AGU fellow. He is the first Asian scientist to receive this honour and the first Chinese oceanographer to become an AGU fellow, which is testament to his extraordinary academic and scientific
