The\nfourth meeting of the Second Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of\nQuality Research in Chinese Medicine (QRCM Lab) was held today (16 January) at\nthe University of Macau (UM). During the meeting, committee members recognised the\nlab\u2019s research achievements in the past year and agreed that the lab attained\nbreakthroughs at different levels in quality research in Chinese medicine.<\/p>
According to Cheang Kun Wai, member of the Executive\nCommittee of the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT), research\nin Chinese medicine plays an important part in the innovation-driven growth\nstrategies of both mainland China and Macao. Through years of hard work,\nespecially since the establishment of the QRCM Lab, research in Chinese medicine\nin Macao has not only acquired distinctive characteristics, but has also made a\ngreater impact in the international academic community. In response to China\u2019s\ndecision to develop the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the FDCT has\nbeen providing support for local research institutes and pharmaceutical companies\nin their collaboration with the Chinese medicine industrial park on Hengqin\nIsland.<\/p>
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p>
According\nto Ge Wei, vice rector (research) of UM, Chinese medicine research has been one\nof the most important and fruitful areas of research at UM. In recent years,\nthe lab has published many academic papers in prestigious international journals\nand has received multiple awards in China and abroad. The lab has also\nstrengthened support for technology transfer, in response to the Macao SAR\ngovernment\u2019s plan to develop the Chinese medicine industry as well as to\npromote the diversification of Macao\u2019s economy. In the future, UM will continue\nto work with the government and well-known institutes in China and abroad to\npromote the industrialisation of Chinese medicine.<\/p>
