This is the first exhibition to represent the folk customs and famous historical figures in Macao from the 16<sup>th<\/sup> Century through the 20<sup>th<\/sup> Century with the traditional Chinese folk art &ldquo;clay figure&rdquo;. It is also the start of a series of clay sculpture exhibitions that aim to represent Macao&rsquo;s history, culture and famous figures. <\/tt><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><tt>The <\/tt>5<sup>th<\/sup>-generation descendant of the famous folk artist &ldquo;Clay Figure Zhang&rdquo;, Prof. Zhang Zexun has inherited the artistic talent of her ancestors and has garnered extensive knowledge of the art history. She not only follows in her father&rsquo;s footsteps in clay figure creation, but has also brought the clay sculpting art to a whole new level through constant innovation. In the early 1990s, her works were included in the <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal\">Who&rsquo;s Who of <st1_country-region w_st=\"on\">China<\/st1_country-region>&rsquo;s Top Artists<\/i><tt> and <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal\">Who&rsquo;s Who of <st1_country-region w_st=\"on\">China<\/st1_country-region>&rsquo;s Top Contemporary Folk Artists<\/i>. Moreover, she and her father were named by the <\/tt><tt>Chinese Television System<\/tt><tt> as the top ten artists in <st1_country-region w_st=\"on\">China<\/st1_country-region>. Prof. Zhang joined UM in 2004 and held a clay figure and painting exhibition in UM in 2007. <\/tt><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><tt>The exhibition will open in the <\/tt>Anthony S.W. Lau Exhibition Hall at 10:00AM on 14 September and will end on 13 October.
