Summer holiday is up and running. What are the\nsummer plans of the University of Macau (UM)\u2019s students like? While some students\ndecided to try their hand at summer job, some chose to pack their bags and go\nexplore the world. This year, around 300 UM students joined the Summer\nProgramme organised by UM to see the world in from a different perspective.<\/p>\n\n
\u201cI think Norway is a laid-back country, and my stay\nthere proves me right,\u201d Cui Tianni, a year-4 UM student from the Department of\nSociology spoke of her first impression of Norway, where she grabbed the\nexchange opportunity and attended a four-week class in the Bl Norwegian\nBusiness School. Cui also spent time to meet new friends despite the tight\nclass schedule. \u201cI will be going to the very northern part of Norway with my\nclassmates next week to visit the most beautiful village in the world and to\nexperience the polar day,\u201d said Cui, with excitement on her face.<\/p>\n\n
Another UM student who is spending her summer in\nEurope is Su Baijing. Su, a year-2 student from the Department of Government\nand Public Administration, chose to go on exchange in Portugal and joined the\nLeadership and Strategic Knowledge Programme at the ISCTE Business School,\nUniversity Institute of Lisbon. She is full of curiosity about Portugal and\nwould like to know more about the unique customs and culture of the country. Su\nsaid she had made many new friends in Portugal and they were like a family. On\nweekends, Su would teach her \u201cfamily members\u201d Chinese and they taught her\nPortuguese in return. Now, Su can speak basic Portuguese.<\/p>\n\nThe Student Affairs\nOffice of UM organises Summer Programme for students on a regular basis. This\nyear, around 300 students participated in this exchange programme in 18\ncountries and regions, including Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan,\nSouth Korea, Mongolia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mainland China. The programme does\nnot only give participants many good memories, but also allow them the opportunity\nto broaden their horizons and explore the world in a new way.
