{"id":194498,"date":"2016-06-08T15:50:00","date_gmt":"2016-06-08T07:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.um.edu.mo\/sem-categoria\/2016\/06\/38460-pt_pt\/"},"modified":"2016-06-08T15:50:00","modified_gmt":"2016-06-08T07:50:00","slug":"38460","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.um.edu.mo\/pt-pt\/news-and-press-releases\/press-release\/detail\/38460\/","title":{"rendered":"Professor da UM Da Hsuan Feng recebe pr\u00e9mio de medalha memorial de Kwoh Ting LI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prof\nDa Hsuan Feng, director of global affairs and special advisor to rector at the University\nof Macau (UM), on 28 May received the 2016 Kwoh-Ting Li Memorial Medal Award for\nhis contributions to education in the Asia-Pacific region.<\/p>\n\n<p>The\naward was presented to Prof Feng by Dr Raymond T Yeh, a co-founder of the\nSociety for Design and Process Science, who is also a world renowned computer\nscientist and entrepreneur. \u2018I am deeply honoured by this recognition,\u2019 says Prof\nFeng. \u2018There is no doubt in my mind that Taiwan\u2019s economic miracle and subsequent\naffluence, which helped to enhance people\u2019s quality of life, were largely due\nto the courageous public policies instituted by several individuals. Kwoh-Ting\nLi was the most notable of them.\u2019<\/p>\n\n<p>Prof\nFeng has accumulated three decades of academic and corporate experience in the\nUnited States, where he built a broad and strong global network. He was M\nRussell Wehr Chair Professor of Physics at Drexel University in Philadelphia, director\nof the Division of Theoretical Physics of the United States National Science\nFoundation, vice president of the University of Texas at Dallas, and vice\npresident of the Fortune 500 Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). In\nthe past nine years in Asia, besides his job at UM, Prof Feng has also served as a\nsenior vice president of two top universities in Taiwan, namely Cheng Kung\nUniversity and Tsing Hua University, where he was deeply involved in creating a\ndialogue for university autonomy. In addition, Prof Feng put a lot of effort in\npromoting intellectual collaborations between Taiwan and mainland China, most\nnotably the collaboration between Tsinghua University in Beijing and Tsing Hua University\nin Taiwan, and the exchange of Minnan culture between the southern part of\nTaiwan and Xiamen city in mainland China. He also proactively engaged with\nacademic institutions in India and Europe, and has lectured at nearly all\ncorners of Asia Pacific and South Asia.<\/p>\n\nThe Kwoh-Ting Li (KTL) Memorial\nMedal Award was established in 2012 as a special honour to the speakers of KTL\nMemorial lecture at international conferences of the Academy of\nTransdisciplinary Learning and Advanced Studies.
