Prof Richard\nYe, a chair professor of pharmacology and the deputy director of the Institute\nof Chinese Medical Sciences at the University of Macau (UM), has been chosen\nas the new associate editor of The FASEB Journal.<\/p>\n\n
In this role\nhe manages all aspects of the peer review and submission decision processes,\nand will collaborate with the journal\u2019s current group of associate editors,\nincluding Dr Helen Blau from Stanford University, Dr Laura Goldsmith from\nRutgers New Jersey Medical School, Dr Robert Goldman from Northwestern\nUniversity, Dr Robert Haselkorn from the University of Chicago, Dr Charles\nSerhan from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Institutes of Medicine, and Dr\nBabette Weksler from Weill Cornell Medical College; as well as the\neditor-in-chief Dr Thoru Pederson from the University of Massachusetts Medical\nSchool.<\/p>\n\n

Prior to joining\nUM, Prof Ye was the Zhiyuan Chair Professor and dean of the School of Pharmacy\nat Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He completed medical school in China and\nreceived his PhD degree in cell and integrative biology from Washington\nUniversity in St Louis. He joined the faculty at The Scripps Research Institute in 1989 and then the University of\nIllinois at Chicago in 1998. From 1993 to 2008, he served in different\npositions on various grant review panels at the National Institutes of Health,\nincluding the position of a regular member at the Innate Immunity and\nInflammation Study Section. Research in his\nlab focuses on the mechanisms by which cell surface receptors such as G\nprotein-coupled receptors and Toll-like receptors activate innate immune cells\nand trigger a variety of host-defense actions.<\/p>\n\n
\u2018We are\ndelighted to bring Richard Ye aboard, both to further enrich and diversify the\nvarious research domains of our associate editor tier, but also to help us\nestablish a foothold for The FASEB Journal<\/i> in China,\u201d says\nPederson. \u2018We have always received numerous fine papers from Chinese\nlaboratories, but given the tremendous expansion of research institutions\nunderway in the PRC, Dr Ye\u2019s appointment is timely indeed.\u2019<\/p>\n\nThe FASEB Journal<\/i>\nis published by the Federation of the American Societies for Experimental\nBiology (FASEB). It is the world’s most cited biology journal according to the\nInstitute for Scientific Information, and has been recognised by the Special\nLibraries Association as one of the top 100 most influential biomedical\njournals of the past century.
