Wang Panpan, a doctoral student of the University of Macau’s (UM) Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences (ICMS), received a second prize of the Best Oral Presentation Award for Graduate Students at the Fourth Ling-Nan International Forum on DMPK (DMPK is short for drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics), for her discovery of MSK, a Chinese medicine ingredient that can reduce the toxicity of irinotecan, an antineoplastic enzyme inhibitor primarily used in the treatment of colorectal cancer. Wang’s supervisor is ICMS professor Yan Ru. The study is jointly funded by the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund, UM, and the Natural Science Fund of Guangdong Province. More than 50 renowned experts and scholars in the field of DMPK attended the forum and gave keynote speeches.
