Recently, the Department of Accounting and Information Management (AIM) of the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) of the University of Macau (UM) invited a representative from the Certified Practising Accountants of Australia (CPAA) to present an information seminar for FBA students. In the seminar, the CPAA representative introduced the structure of the examinations, entrance requirements, examination fees, and career paths for their professional examinations and certifications. The CPAA representative not only introduced their CPA programme to FBA’s accounting students but also introduced an ‘examination pathway’ for finance and economics students. Students were enthusiastic and enquired about the examination structure and the exemptions from their studies. Students benefited from the seminar by understanding more about the CPAA qualification, which is one of the major professional accounting qualifications in the world. Students could experience the international content of FBA’s accredited accounting programme and recognise the internationalisation of our Business School. Students will be qualified to work in a wide range of roles from accounting to business consultancy by obtaining the CPAA qualification and that could enhance students’ job mobility, employability, and competitiveness in the market.
