The University of Macau (UM) on Thursday 17 October will hold a talk titled ‘Superconductivity and I’ as part of the University Lecture Series. Prof Paul CW Chu, a renowned physicist, will be the keynote speaker. During the talk, he will discuss the history of superconductivity and share his research stories.

Prof Chu is known for his achievements in the fields of superconductivity, magnetism, and dielectrics. He is professor of Physics, T.L.L. Temple Chair of Science, as well as the founding director and chief scientist of the Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston (TCSUH). He is also honorary chancellor of the Taiwan Comprehensive University System; and president emeritus and university professor emeritus of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the recipient of a Doctor of Science honoris causa degree from UM.

The talk will start at 3:30pm in Mr and Mrs Lau Chor Tak Lecture Theatre (G078), Anthony Lau Building (E4), UM. It will be conducted in English, with simultaneous interpretation into Mandarin.
