A delegation from the University of Macau’s (UM) Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) recently visited three business schools in mainland China, namely the School of Management and the International Business School at Zhejiang University, as well as the Business School at Sun Yat-Sen University. The UM delegation had an in-depth discussion with representatives from the three business schools on how to enhance teaching quality of business schools, how to carry out teaching and research activities, and how to promote collaboration between universities and businesses, in the context of artificial intelligence.

During the visit, members of the UM delegation shared their experience in teaching courses in business data analysis and financial technology in recent years with representatives from Zhejiang University’s International Business School. The UM delegation had an in-depth discussion with the three schools on collaboration in scientific research and in the orgaisation of conferences, summer camps, PhD programmes, and student exchange programmes. The three schools all expressed the intention to collaborate with UM’s FBA in applying for national research grants for major scientific research projects.

The UM delegation also shared UM’s strategic positioning (a university that is rooted in Macao, integrated into the Greater Bay Area, and geared towards China and beyond), the university’s various preferential policies for the recruitment of talented people and collaboration in scientific research, as well as the FBA’s new BIDA, DBA, and EMBA programmes. They also listened to representatives of the three schools sharing their experience in teaching, research, and collaboration with industry. 

The business schools at Zhejiang University and Sun Yat-Sen University both have a long history and a great international reputation. Both schools have obtained international accreditations from such professional bodies as the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), and the Association of MBAs (AMBA). Zhejiang University’s International Business School has established collaborative projects with the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the United States.
