The University of Macau (UM) today (17 April) held the One Million Dollar Macao Regional Entrepreneurship Competition – Trade Show and Elevator Pitch. During the event, 18 shortlisted teams presented their business proposals and made elevator pitches Their business plans covered various topics, including biomedical sciences, new energy, energy conservation, internet, and language learning platforms. The 18 teams will compete in the regional final of Macao. The top three teams that emerge from the regional final will represent Macao in the national final, where they will compete with other regional finalists for the big prize of MOP 1 million as the start-up fund.

The One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition was launched in 2011 by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, with the aim of providing a platform for students, entrepreneurs and potential investors to exchange ideas and explore collaboration opportunities. This year’s regional competitions are held in Hong Kong, Macao, Zhongshan, Foshan, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Beijing. The Macao regional competition is sponsored by the Bank of China (Macau Branch).
