The Cultural Affairs Bureau recently released the list of recipients for this year’s Academic Research Grants. Tang Chon Chit, a professor from the University of Macau (UM) Department of Chinese Language and Literature, is one of the recipients. Tang will receive the grant for his research project titled ‘Literary Society of Xueshe’ in Macao’.
The project focuses on the Literary Society of Xueshe in Macao, the first literary group in Macao, with local residents as its members and symbolic significance for the study of the literary history of Macao. Based on historical facts and in-depth analysis, the project studies this literary group and the evolution of Macao’s literature in the broader context of literary and cultural development in Macao.
