UM and Fundação Oriente sign a cooperation agreement

In order to nurture more outstanding Portuguese-major graduates for Macao and strengthen the cultural exchange between Macao and Portugal, the University of Macau (UM) and Fundação Oriente yesterday (25th) signed a cooperation agreement on joint organization of activities in educational, scientific and cultural fields and the establishment of the “Award Macao – Doctorate” scholarship which consists of the granting of a scholarship by the Fundação Oriente to two UM students every year for their studying at a Portuguese university.

Yesterday UM Rector Wei Zhao and Chairman of Fundação Oriente’s Administrative Board Dr. Carlos Augusto Pulido Valente Monjardino signed the cooperation agreement on the establishment of the “Award Macao – Doctorate” scholarship, which consists of the granting of a scholarship by the Fundação Oriente to two UM students for their studying at a Portuguese university for a maximum period of six months every year, with the purpose of nurturing more outstanding Portuguese-major graduates for Macao.
 
Besides, both parties will jointly organize activities in educational, scientific and cultural fields, namely conferences, colloquiums, seminars, internships, studies, research and trainings with topics common to both institutions, and will exchange publications and other informative and documental materials, in hopes of creating more communication opportunities and establishing a sustainable, mutually beneficial relationship between Macao and Portugal.
