The first annual conference of the International Union for Difficult-to-treat-Diseases will open at the University of Macau (UM) tomorrow. More than 40 world-renowned experts, scholars, and medical professionals, including Prof James L Mulshine, associate provost for research and vice president of Rush University, Chicago, who is an internationally recognised expert on lung cancer, will attend the conference to discuss new approaches to fighting cancer, ageing, and chronic diseases. 

The event is co-organised by UM’s Faculty of Health Sciences, the New Fortune (Macau) Forum Organisation, the National Cancer Institute in the US, the International Union of Difficult-to-treat Diseases, and several other international organisations. Medical professionals, scholars, and students who specialise in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases, as well as patients of chronic diseases will attend the conference. Representatives from the US National Cancer Institute will discuss the institute’s programmes on the prevention, early detection, and treatment of cancer.
