The University of Macau (UM) held two Town Hall Meetings in the last two days to discuss university affairs with its staff. More than 600 faculty members and administrative staff attended the meetings.

During the meetings, UM’s top management updated colleagues on various aspects of UM’s recent developments and discussed plans for future development. UM Rector Wei Zhao talked about UM’s latest developments; Interim Vice Rector Fan Xitao updated participants on the recent developments of academic affairs; Vice Rector Rui Martins explained the Multi-Year Research Grant (2014-2015) and UM’s latest ranking in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings; Vice Rector  Haydn Chen talked about students’ lives on the new campus and other student-affairs-related issues; and Vice Rector Alex Lai updated participants on the relocation, improvement plan and enterprise resource planning. Participants asked questions and offered suggestions on university affairs during the Q&A sessions.

UM holds Town Hall Meetings every semester for staff members and students, as one of the ways to enhance communication between UM’s top management and faculty members, staff, and students. These are the first Town Hall Meetings since UM’s relocation to the new campus.
