| Prof. Yuen Ka Veng gains international recognition |
The International Chinese Association for Computational Mechanics (ICACM) recently announced the recipients of the Young Investigator Award, and Prof. Yuen Ka Veng of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Macau (UM) was among this year’s recipients of the award. Computational mechanics covers many areas of civil, mechanical and aeronautical engineering. There have been many world renowned Chinese scholars in this area.
ICACM Young Investigator Award is given the first time this year and it recognizes outstanding accomplishments, particularly outstanding published papers, by Chinese researchers around the world under the age of 40. The other four recipients of the award this year are from the Tsinghua University, Xiamen University, Liverpool University and Cincinnati University. Prof. Yuen is the youngest among the five recipients. These awards will be given in Taipei in December.
Prof. Yuen Ka Veng has gained international recognition for his breakthroughs in the fields of structural health monitoring, system identification and Bayesian methods. He is now editorial board member and reviewers for more than twenty academic journals. He also serves on several national and international committees, including the System Identification and Structural Control Committee of the International Association for Structural Safety and Reliability and the Bridge Committee of the Beijing Mao Yi-Sheng Science and Technology Education Foundation.
