To learn more about the short-, medium-, and long-term impacts of the COVID-19 on economic growth in Macao, the Centre for Macau Studies (CMS) of the University of Macau (UM) is conducting a second online survey on the impacts of COVID-19 on the operation of local businesses. The survey targets local business owners and management personnel working in different sectors and aims to provide a basis for the Macao SAR government to formulate relevant measures.

The novel coronavirus outbreak started in Macao in late January this year. As a response, the Macao SAR government established the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre to lead the anti-epidemic campaign in order to address the socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19. In March and April this year, the CMS conducted its first online survey on the impacts of COVID-19 on local businesses. The survey examined local companies’ confidence in economic recovery, their operational difficulties, and the effectiveness of the government’s economic relief measures.  About 300 questionnaires were collected in the first survey.

The new survey is conducted anonymously. All data collected will be treated strictly as confidential and used only for research purposes. The results may be sent to the Macao SAR government for reference. To take the survey, please visit https://umac.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1NWdh0KSD1LRR53.
