A group of students from the Department of Electromechanical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), University of Macau (UM), recently swept the top three prizes for the longest airtime in both the group category and the individual category, at the university level, at the Fourth Greater China Students Paper Plane Contest cum the Eighth Macau Paper Airplane Contest. During the event, UM students competed with more 300 students from over 30 higher education institutions and high schools in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. This is the fifth consecutive year that UM students have won championships at this contest.

The event was organised by the Macao Innovation and Invention Association. In the longest airtime (group) contest, the team ‘Guard of CS2C’, formed by students Lei Hin Chon, Tang Choi I, and Iong Sam I, won the first prize. The team ‘Far Poetry’, formed by students Chan Cheok Hin, Chow Haw Yen, and Gong Junwei, won the second prize. The team ‘Planes Queue Before Landing’, formed by Wong Chi Hong, Sin Wai Kit, and Wong Wai Hong, won the third prize. The students received guidance from FST Senior Instructor Lao Seng Kin.

In the longest airtime (individual) contest, Iong Sam I won the first prize with a record of 13.05 seconds. Lei Hin Chon and Tang Choi I won the second and third prizes, respectively.
