The business proposals of three student teams from the University of Macau (UM) won two silver awards and one bronze award at the China College Students’ Entrepreneurship Competition 2018.

This year, 369 proposals from 197 universities in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao advanced to the final. A UM team named ‘Silk Road Macau’, formed by Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) student Ren Xuguang, Faculty of Law (FLL) student Wang Shaoshan, and Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) student Lai Chi Ieong won a silver award. Another UM team named ‘Nan Jia Zhi Zao’, formed by Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) student Xu Dan, also won a silver award. The third team named ‘Team Whee’, formed by FBA students Huang Shuyan, Lu Fang, Zheng Jiaming, Huang Siqi, Yu Qianting, Yao Mingxuan, as well as FSS students Dai Yinhang and Wang Xinran, won a bronze award.

The team ‘Silk Road Macau’ was formed at the beginning of this year and received instructions from Jerome Yen, head of UM’s Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The team’s proposal aims to promote business collaboration and cultural exchange between companies and cultural groups in countries and regions along the Maritime Silk Road. ‘Nan Jia Zhi Zao’ was among the first teams to be selected to join the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship for business incubation. Its proposal seeks to foster patriotism among the youth through a performance by an unmanned boat. The proposal of ‘Team Whee’ is designed to help art graduates to not only sell, but also to increase the value of, their works, through online and offline exhibitions.
