Delegations from four renowned Chinese universities, namely Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beijing Normal University, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and the China University of Political Science and Law, recently visited the University of Macau (UM) and were warmly received by UM Rector Yonghua Song, Vice Rector (Academic Affairs) Lionel Ni, and Vice Rector (Research) Rui Martins. Members of the delegations said that UM has a beautiful campus and top teaching facilities and outstanding research results. They expressed hope that UM and the four universities will strengthen collaboration in student exchange, mutual visits from faculty members and students, as well as research development.

The delegation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University visited the university library, UM Gallery, the State Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI, Lui Che Woo College, and a laboratory in the Faculty of Science and Technology.

The delegation from Beijing Normal University, led by its Party Secretary Cheng Jianping, had a meeting with representatives of UM’s Faculty of Education. Both parties discussed strategies for increasing academic exchange between the two universities as well as other issues related to higher education. Members of the delegation also visited the Wall of Great Wisdom and Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College. A scholar from Beijing Normal University also gave a talk in the college on traditional Chinese culture.

Gao Hong, party secretary of the Central Academy of Fine Arts; and the academy’s head of the Department of Sculpture, attended the unveiling ceremony for the Wall of Great Wisdom, a gift to UM from the Ministry of Education.

Hu Ming, party secretary of the China University of Political Science and Law, toured UM’s campus in the company of Rector Song and had a meeting with UM Faculty of Law Dean Tong Io Cheng. Members of the delegation praised UM for its beautiful campus and its master plan. They invited Rector Song to visit the China University of Political Science and Law and expressed hope to increase academic exchange between the two universities.
