Prof Li Ping from the Department of History, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Macau (UM), has been appointed by Nanjing University’s Six Dynasties Institute as an academic consultant. Prof Li expresses hope that UM’s newly-established Centre for Chinese History and Culture will work closely with the Six Dynasties Institute to promote cultural exchange between Macao and the Jiangnan area.

Prof Li’s main research interests include the histories of Wei, Jin, and Northern and Southern dynasties and the histories of the ethnic groups in China. He was the director of the Research Office of the Capital Library of China, director of the Institute of Historical Research of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and professor of the Department of History at Zhejiang University and South China Normal University. He has published many important books in the field, including From the Grasslands to the Central Plain—Tuoba in 100 Years.
