Four undergraduate students from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Macau (UM), recently received scholarships and awards from the Rohde & Schwarz Hong Kong Limited and Companhia de Electricidadae de Macau (CEM) for their outstanding academic performance.

The recipients of Rohde and Schwarz Wireless Communications Scholarship are third-year students Lei Kin Wang and Loi Kin Chong, and the recipients of Participation in CEM’s Projects award are fourth-year students Lao Teng Chong and Li Changhe. The scholarships and awards aim to encourage students to contribute to society in the related field.

During the award ceremony, Prof Sin Sai Weng, acting head of the ECE, said that the department has been working closely with local and international companies in various areas of electrical and computer engineering, including power, telecommunications, and automation, since the department’s establishment in 1998, with an aim to provide internship opportunities for students and help them gain more practical and research experience. Prof Sin added that the scholarships and awards are recognitions of the teaching quality of the ECE and encouragement for its students.
