The 13th Asian New Humanities Net Annual Meeting, titled ‘Port Cities in the Global Era’, was held today (22 April) at the University of Macau (UM). The event attracted more than 50 renowned scholars in the field of social sciences and the humanities, from the United States, Germany, Japan, Singapore, mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao. Participants discussed a wide range of topics related to the development of the humanities in Asia, including the international influence of port cities, the development of and challenges facing port cities in a new era, and the changing identity of port cities. The event was co-organised by UM’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Arts and Humanities, as well as the Macao Foundation.
