Moon Chun Memorial College (MCMC) was pleased to welcome Harrow School (London England) Chamber Orchestra to give an informal lunchtime concert in MCM College Hall on 15 December 2014.  This was part of the Orchestra’s Far East Tour, with performances at University of Macau, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Clube Militar de Macau and the Xinhai Concert Hall, Guangzhou.

The 20-strong Chamber Orchestra played to a record number of attendees, despite the concert being scheduled in the middle of a busy examination period at the end of UM’s First Semester.  The Orchestra, with vocal soloists, Christopher Willoughby, Tom Moy, and pianist,  Aristo Sham, delighted the audience with music by Handel, Dvorak, Bach, Chopin,  Elgar, Gurney and Head.

Many audience members confessed that the beauty of the musical performance had reduced them to tears, and that they were impressed with the skill, musical artistry and sheer professionalism of players so young.  Their first-class playing and finely honed sense of performance made the occasion memorable for staff, students and guests from Macau.

MCMC was pleased to have Aristo Sham perform on its newly-acquired piano, and Aristo’s playing explored all the tonal nuances, subtlety of timbres and dramatic depths of this admirable grand piano.

Attendees look forward to many more high quality performances at MCM College Hall and UM.
