Tom Cooney, deputy consul general of the Consulate General of the United States to Hong Kong and Macau, recently gave a talk at the University of Macau (UM) at the invitation of the Youth Association of International Affairs under UM’s Postgraduate Association. Mr. Cooney explained US’s strategy for the Asia-Pacific region and its implications for Hong Kong and Macao region.

 

During the talk, students asked Mr. Cooney questions about hot current affairs, including the Snowden incident, the strained relations between China and Japan, and the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone.
