The University of Macau (UM) Pearl Jubilee College (PJC) today launched a children’s book A Story of Three Cats and their Friendship – The Adventures of Peach, Jam & Cheese

PJC Master Prof. George Watt, Prof. Christopher Kelen from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, as well as representatives from the Against Child Abuse (Macau) Association Child Protection Centre attended the book launch.

This children’s book project, which began in December 2013 and targets a wide audience, particularly young children, was born out of a painting workshop attended by eight students from PJC. The original idea was simply to have the workshop participants paint whatever they liked, but in the end they did such a great job that Dr. Natalie Siu Lam Wong, a resident fellow at PJC, suggested that they should create a story book from the paintings. The project not only helped to improve the students’ painting and creative writing skills, but also paves the way for engaging the students in community service as the book will serve as teaching materials for future volunteer teaching and service learning activities.
