Prof. Haydn Chen, vice rector for student affairs of the University of Macau (UM), in the last few months gave speeches at 13 local secondary schools on the topic, “hard skills and soft skills — most wanted talent in the 21st century”. Teachers and students showed great interest in Prof. Chen’s speeches and raised many questions. Prof. Chen will continue his speaking tour later this year.

Prof. Haydn Chen is a world-renowned materials scientist. He founded a liberal arts college in Tunghai University, Taiwan, during his tenure as president there. Ever since he assumed office as UM’s vice rector for student affairs, he has been vigorously improving student affairs at UM, with focus on helping students to develop soft skills.
