The University of Macau (UM) will hold the first two lectures of the Doctor honoris causa Lecture Series this week, on 5 December and 6 December respectively. The renowned educator Prof. Sérgio Machado dos Santos will talk about quality culture at higher education institutions, while the literary master Prof. Yu Kwang Chung will share his sources of inspirations. 

The first lecture, entitled “Internal Quality Assurance Systems for a Quality Culture in Higher Education Institutions”, by Prof. Santos, will take place in Room HG03, Ho Yin Convention Centre, UM, on 5 December at 3:30pm. Prof. Santos will discuss the difficulties in conciliating accountability and enhancement, which are considered two essential aims in many national quality assurance systems, as well as other related issues. Prof. Santos is honorary rector of the University of Minho, Portugal. As a university leader, his CV rolls out a long list of strong credentials for different aspects of higher education, not least his significant role in in the national accreditation of higher education.

The second lecture, entitled “On the Transformation of Artistic Experience”, by the literary master Prof. Yu Kwang Chung, will take place at UM’s Cultural Centre on 6 December (Friday) at 5:00pm. Prof. Yu will share with the audience how he finds inspirations for his writings. Prof. Yu enjoys great renown in the Chinese communities, especially for his modern poetry and prose.
