University of Macau (UM) student Chu Chi Wai from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, won the silver medal for the Men’s Jianshu/Qiangshu All-round at the Sixth East Asian Games (EAG) held in Tianjin. A record number of 2,422 athletes from nine countries and regions, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taipei, North Korea and South Korea, competed at this year’s EAG, which had more events than any previous games. Chu has won numerous medals for Macao at various major sporting events. He was awarded the Order of Merit in Sport by the Macao SAR government in 2012. This is the second medal UM members have won at this year’s EAG. Earlier another UM member Choi Sut Ian won a bronze medal in diving.
