The University of Macau’s (UM) Centre for Macau Studies and the Macau Economic Association will co-organise a seminar on 9 October to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA). The organisers hope that the seminar could provide a platform to discuss the effects of CEPA on the economic development of Macao as well as to explore strategies for future development in mainland China and Macao. The topics to be discussed at the seminar include “a review of the effects of CEPA since its implementation”, “the relationship between CEPA and the moderate economic diversification of Macao”, and “the relationship between CEPA and closer collaboration between Guangdong and Macao”. Numerous well-known scholars from mainland China and Macao who have been long involved in the studies of regional collaboration, especially collaboration among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, will attend the seminar to carry out in-depth discussions on these topics.
