The new semester has started, and students have mostly returned to the campus after a long holiday. With the new semester comes new hopes and challenges, so what wishes and plans do students have? The first batch of UM Reporters recruited by the Communications Office interviewed several students.

Vu Kai Pong, a third-year local student of the Department of Psychology, said he felt a bit nervous on the first day of school. He told us that he selected seven subjects for this semester and he also serves as the vice director-general of the Students’ Union, so he’ll have to strike a proper balance between studies and extracurricular activities. “I’m going to have to make an extra effort in studies, while also enjoying university life,” said Vu.

Li Xiang, a student of the Department of Mathematics, who just returned from Beijing, said he felt very excited, and although he will still need some time to adjust to a different daily schedule, he is confident that he will “adapt very quickly”. He also wished all UM students progress in the new semester.

Huang Zhini, a first-year student of the Faculty of Business Administration who is also from mainland China, said: “I hope I can get more A’s this year, and successfully transfer to accounting major in the next semester, because working as an accountant is my dream. ”

Vivian Lam Sok Ieng from Hong Kong, who is starting her first year in the Department of Psychology, said: “I hope I can set my goals, manage my time well, take good care of both studies and extracurricular activities, and not let my parents down.”

Adjombi Te, an African student of the Department of Finance and Business Economics, hopes to get good results in studies, meet more friends and enjoy university life.
