Prof. Rik Carl D’Amato, director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning Enhancement (CTLE) and professor of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Macau (UM), has been appointed by the International School Psychology Association (ISPA), the world’s largest association of international school psychologists, as the founding editor-in-chief of its new journal International Journal of School and Educational Psychology(IJSEP), for a five-year term. Prof D’Amato was appointed editor-in-chief at the 34th annual conference of ISPA held in Montreal, Canada. IJSEP will be published by Taylor & Francis four times a year starting 2013.


IJSEP invites papers from researchers and practitioners alike, and requires the authors to follow the most recent APA Style Manual as well as all ethical and style guidelines. Its editoral board is made up of individuals from around the world, including senior scientists and practitioners as well as a group of student reviewers. The journal seeks to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western psychological practice. It accepts empirical papers that contribute to the knowledge base of teaching, learning, schooling, cross-cultural psychology, school psychological services, applied educational psychology, special education, new models of learning, and other related areas.

 

D’Amato is an award-winning professor who has been serving at UM for five years. He is the founding head of the Department of Psychology and the director of the university-wide CTLE. A well-known scholar, he has published and presented more than 400 articles, books, chapters, and papers internationally. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA) in School Psychology and in Clinical Neuro-psychology. He previously served as the editor-in-chief of School Psyhology Review, a publication of APA. Much of his career has been dedicated to the creation, dissemination, and preservation of new knowledge.
