University of Macau’s (UM) Karate Team won several medals at the Macao Karate Open 2012, organized by the Macao Karate Federation. Sio Ka Wai from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSH) was the first runner-up in the adult women’s individual advanced level category. Lao Weng Chon from the Faculty of Science and Technology was the second runner-up in the adult men’s individual advanced level 60kg category. Nong Zhenzhen and Choi Kin Man from the Faculty of Business Administration were both second runner-ups at the adult women’s individual basic level category.

UM students also won two bronze medals at the 42nd Macao Students Hilly Trail Run held on 4 November. A total of 650 students from forty-two primary schools, middle schools and post-secondary institutions participated in the run. UM students Chao Un Kei, Chan Chan Kit and Lai Weng Fat from the Faculty of Education and UM student U Hoi Tang from FSH won the bronze medal in the post-secondary men’s team 3,400m relay category. Chan Chan Kit also won a bronze medal in the post-secondary men’s individual category.
