University of Macau (UM) master’s student Gloria Cao Weiyue from the Faculty of Business Administration has been awarded a Research Fellowship by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).

GARP is the only globally recognized membership association for financial risk managers and the organizer of the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) Exam. Its 150,000 members mostly come from commercial banks, central banks, investment banks, asset management companies, government organizations and academic institutions from 195 countries and regions.

The GARP Research Fellowship programme provides support for up to five selected research proposals for students enrolled in master-level programmes within GARP’s global network. GARP's Senior Vice President and FRM Program Manager William H. May says the Research Fellowship programme has received great interest from students across GARP’s network of master-level programmes, and GARP decided to award a Research Fellowship to Gloria because her research proposal, which received guidance from her supervisor Dr. William Cheung, “demonstrated sufficient relevance to current global financial risk management issues and needs”.
