           UM and the Secretariat of

  the International Convention of Asia

  Scholars sign a cooperation agreement

Today (18 January) the University of Macau (UM) and the Secretariat of the International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) signed a cooperation agreement on UM’s hosting the eighth ICAS in Macao. Due to its high status in the academic world, competition for hosting ICAS has always been fierce. UM stood out from the rest of the competitors with an outstanding proposal and won the right to host the convention in 2013. ICAS aims to bring together world-class experts and scholars to exchange ideas about the development of Asian countries and regions, in order to enhance dialogues and cooperation in Asia. Every year the convention attracted an average of between 1,000 to 2,000 participants from over sixty countries.
