A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), University of Macau (UM), and the College of Engineering, National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), was signed on 7 July 2011 at UM.

Prof. Philip Chen, dean of UM’s FST; Prof. Yuen Ka Veng, associate dean of UM’s FST; Prof. Wong Pak Kin, head of the Department of Electromechanical Engineering of FST; Prof. Tam Lap Mou, also of the Department of Electromechanical Engineering; and Prof. Kou Kun Pang, head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and coordinator of the Asian Exchange Program; were invited by Prof. Chiun-Hsun Chen, dean of the College of Engineering at NCTU, to visit the College of Engineering, NCTU, from 26 to 30 October 2011.

In order to reinforce collaboration between UM and NCTU, an academic exchange agreement and a student exchange agreement between UM and NCTU were signed on 26 October 2011. The signing ceremony was witnessed by delegates from FST, UM and NCTU.

The following aspects are covered in this academic exchange agreement: exchange research information and academic publications; exchange of faculty, students and research members; development of joint research projects; joint supervision of research students; joint seminars, conferences and lectures; and other academic and research collaboration.

During the visit, the delegates of FST visited the Brain Research Center, the Institute of Environmental Engineering, the Institute of Nanotechnology, the Sanitary and Health Caring Center, the Wind and Solar Energy System, and the Thermal and Energy Management Laboratory of NCTU.
