The University of Macau’s (UM) Department of Chinese organized a conference on journals of humanities and the promotion of cultural development at UM on 11 May to celebrate the launch of the department’s maiden issue of the South China Journal of Humanities. The conference will end on 13 May.

The editorial committee of the South China Journal of Humanities consists of German sinologist Wolfgang Kubin, sinologist Marian Galik from the Slovak Republic, Director of The Macau Ricci Institute Artur Wardega from Holand, Prof. K.K. Luke from Singapore, Prof. Iwasa Masaaki from Japan, Prof. Park Jae-woo from South Korea, and other scholars and experts from Taiwan, Hong Kong, mainland China, and Macao.

Professors from many renowned universities, including the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, National Chengchi University, Lingnan University, Nanjing University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Central China Normal University and Jinan University, as well as editors of high-level academic journals in China attended the conference. President of the Administrative Council of Macao Foundation Dr. Wu Zhiliang and Dean of UM’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Prof. Hao Yufan who is also the honorary editor-in-chief of the South China Journal of Humanities were also present.
