The Wireless Technology Study Summer Camp organized by the University of Macau (UM) is very innovative and reaches world-class standards, and in the future the Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) will send more top research personnel to UM for exchange and cooperation, said IEEE MTT-S president Barry Perlman.

Prof. Tam Kam Weng of the Department of Electromechanical Engineering who is in charge of the project said that the Wireless Technology Study Summer Camp was launched in 2008, and so far approximately 100 students from 30 secondary schools have participated in this activity. He said last year a Zigbee-based, wireless-sensor-controlled model car independently developed by the participants was selected for exhibition at the Week of Science and Technology 2009. He said UM and MTT-S are planning to set up international prizes for future participants, adding that the plan will be implemented in the near future.
