|Content||Standard model is intellectually one of the most profound discoveries of physics in the 20th century. |
Prof. Lars Brink will describe the history behind the Standard Model of Particle Physics, how one eventually found a consistent quantum field theory with short range that could describe the weak interactions and how this lead to a unified theory of the strong, the weak and the electromagnetic interactions. Prof. Brink will also describe the experiments at CERN that finally discovered the elusive Higgs particle.
