In order to implement the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Macao's return to the Mainland China, and to strengthen cultural exchanges between Guangzhou and Macao, the University of Macau Library cooperated with Guangzhou Library, Research Center of the Guangzhou Encyclopedia to hold an exhibition and lecture series.

Objective: To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the 10th anniversary of the construction of the new campus of University of Macau and to promote the development of campus culture diversity. SAO is holding the photography competition with the following details
Application period: 01/03/2019 - 31/10/2019
Eligibility: The competition is divided into three groups： ►Student Group: All registered full-time UM students (including students from the off-campus curriculum center) ►Staff / Alumni Group: All staff currently working in UM or alumni who have graduated from full-time courses ►Open Group: Local resident with valid Macau ID card (permanent and non-permanent)
Submission: Participant submit the completed application form together with the physical works and save the photos' file in CD / memory card then pack it into a sealed envelope with subject "UM: Joyous and Splendid Campus" photography competition to the Student Activity Center (E31) room 2007.

The Centre for Chinese History and Culture and Confucius Institute of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Macau jointly organize the “Forum on Chinese History and Culture and the Celebration of Confucius’ Birthday” to allow students and staff to learn about Confucianism in Chinese traditional culture and its development in contemporary society. This is to also enhance one’s self-confidence on national culture, and explore the path of Chinese culture’s revival and reconstruction.

Memorial Ceremony for Confucius This year marks the 2570th birthday of Confucius, the great educator, and thinker. The “Cultural Ambassador” of the UM Confucius Institute will be delivering a traditional dance performance at the Opening Ceremony of the “Forum on Chinese History and Culture and the Celebration of Confucius’ Birthday”.

Studied in Finland, Germany and Denmark, Yong Xiao is currently a Professor and Doctoral Advisor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and a Visiting Professor at the University of the Arts London. Prof. Xiao has been awarded the Moscow Golden Bee Award, the Hong Kong Design Award, the China Design Contribution Award, the Second Prize of the Chinese Ministry of Education Teaching Achievement Award, and named Top Ten Designer in China. Xiao has organized many design conferences and exhibitions, and served as a judge for many important design competitions internationally. His design projects include: 2008 Beijing Olympic Medal, the World University Games Commemorative Stamp, Finland Pavilion of the 2010 World Expo and Commemorative Coin, logo of the China Federation of Literary and Arts, logo of the Finnish National Bureau of Standards, and more than 30 books. In this lecture, Prof. Xiao will share with us the ideas and concepts behind his award-winning international design projects.XiaoYongLectureText肖勇講座.pdf
