Prof. Lars Brink
02 February 2016
W21-G015, Chao Kuang Piu College Multi-Function Room
Standard model is intellectually one of the most profound discoveries of physics in the 20th century. Prof. Lars Brink will describe the history behind the Standard Model of Particle Physics, how one eventually found a consistent quantum field theory with short range that could describe the weak interactions and how this lead to a unified theory of the strong, the weak and the electromagnetic interactions. Prof. Brink will also describe the experiments at CERN that finally discovered the elusive Higgs particle.
