Slash youth, take on multiple jobs

Every day in Macao, people get up at 8:00, go to work at 9:00, get off work at 5:00 pm and go home at 6:00 pm; it is everybody's routine, day after day, year after year. Have you forgotten the intention of your work? Do you still remember that when you were a child, the teacher would ask you what career you would like to be in the future? Teachers, policemen, firefighters, everyone would answer an ideal career, but have you ever thought that there will be multiple identities and occupations in one person?

Every morning at 10 o'clock, she picks up a computer, a bunch of painting tools and a phone which is full of information. These are what she uses every day.
The motto "Doing one thing today and doing it well" can no longer satisfy the fast-developing society, the elders always emphasize "Work while you work, and play while you play; that is the way to be happy"; only one thing can be done at a time and a focus should be placed on duties within the work.

It is the tenet that most people follow.

However, the trend is changing. Young people with multiple interests and talents no longer follow the tedious way of playing a single role at the work; different identities are like different parts and all different parts (identities) can be put together to form a complete Vibian, Chan Wei Yu.

Zentangle likes a life without correction pen

One of the characters of Vibian is a Zentangle teacher, therefore, every time she goes out, she will prepare the tools that will be used for the class. Her teaching is different from a traditional teaching method; when a student accidentally draws out boundaries or makes mistakes when painting, she would tell the stu

dent that it's no big deal to do something wrong. She said that keeping the wrong line and turning it into a new starting point is the purpose of her teaching.

Of course, some students will choose to use an eraser or correction fluid to modify and she would always say: "Using tools to modify the mistakes is just to cover up the wrong things instead of actually facing the mistakes." This is why she doesn't like to use correction fluid. In addition, she encourages students to face mistakes and learn from them.

Slash is the result, not the cause

It's not that you can succeed by learning a little from this and learn something else from that. It is an approach toward problem solving: the more complicated the problems are, the more difficult to solve them with a single specialty.

When Vibian was working as a wage earner, she was often assigned different jobs by her supervisors according to the needs of the company, thus, Vibian has created her own company, because she doesn't like being arranged by others. After the company started, Vibian could flexibly arrange working hours and do things that she liked and valued. Therefore, she thought it would be better to take on different jobs.

So, she became one of the "slash" people, the term specifically describes young people who are no longer satisfied with the work mode of a single occupation but choose a life with multiple occupations and identities.

She admitted that starting a business in Macao is not an easy task, especially how to develop a customer base and maintain a relationship with customers. "In the first two years, there was no profit. The company income was used to maintain its operations." After several years, she concluded that the most important thing is that an entrepreneur can actively find different organizations to promote the company's products and courses.

Slash, it will be more 'precious'

Using one person to take on multiple occupations can effectively reduce salary expenditures and enhance individual abilities. She has several roles, such as the company's souvenir buyer, a painting teacher and a company chairman.

As a saying goes, when something is scarce, it is precious, and the value of multiple professions will increase with the improved competence of slash.

She also believed that most bosses are slash to some extent, at the same time, they have the ability of business planning, marketing, product development, financial management, etc. which is aimed to increase revenue. And more and more people will become slash, because society is facing more complicated issues, and more talents are needed to solve these problems. And she will continue to learn and study in areas such as painting and designing.
