Light of Fishing Boats Grows Dimmer

The light of fishing boats has been flickering along the coast of Macau for hundreds of years. Macau used to be a fishing village and many inhabitants made a living out of fishing. However, the light from boats becomes dimmer and dimmer in our generation as more and more fishermen have abandoned their fishing boats and moved to live ashore.

The Miss Macau pageant, which started again after an 11-year suspension, crowned its winner on September 7 at Cotai Areana in The Venetian Macau. The champion of Miss Macau 2008, Florence Loi, 23, said she is well prepared to promote Macau to the world as its new beauty queen.

Macau is short of nursing manpower despite the significant increase of 7.2% in 2006, according to the statistics conducted by the Department of Health, the Government of Macau Special Administrative Region in 2006.
