"We want to tell a Macanese story which is produced by a Macanese crew," said Sio Ng, the host of Macau.Creatives (MC) which is an organization whose aim is to gather local people who have the same belief together and create magic.

"Macau.Xmas.2005" is a docudrama experimental short film produced by MC. It is a story about a girl who studied fashion design overseas and came back to Macau. She hoped to start up a creative industry but she met many difficulties. In the end, she was able to find someone who had the same belief like hers and team together. The film reflects the aim of forming MC, that is, to group local people with the same belief together and create magic. "We all want to tell the world that we can do a good job by marking a brand 'made in Macau'," exclaimed Ng.

Ng explained that by making a film, MC can gather all the people from different areas of the creative industry to work together. "In filmmaking, we need many different skills and talents from many different areas [of the creative industry]," added Ng.

Most of the MC crew members come from different fields of the creative industry both locally and internationally. Some of their professions include designers, artists, photographers, broadcasters, filmmakers, video-makers, singers, and musicians. Most of them are working full-time or as freelancers in the creative industry. Others are still studying.

There were also many difficulties MC encountered when shooting the short film. Besides the very low budget and the limited time for the shooting, Ng admitted that a lack of human resources, insufficient equipment, as well as conflicts in scheduling for the MC crew to meet together also beset them.

Maria Cheong, one of the students who participated during the production of "Macau.Xmas.2005" said, "It's really interesting to see how people shoot films." She said she found it totally different from what she did during her school video production class. "During our school project, we can shoot and do whatever we want. However, after participating in this film production, I find out that we can't do whatever we want and we need to follow what the director said," said Cheong.

MC was first founded on August 25 last year and, hence, established Macau-Creatives.org. At present, it has more than 300 forum members. Among the MC members, around 30 of them participated in the film shooting of "Macau.Xmas.2005".

This year, MC plans to register their organization so that they can gather more people together to create magic.
