"The life of objects is a labour of lines," Clara Brito speaks as she starts to draw some lines on a piece of paper. "We just create products with lines, all things are constructed with lines..."

Brito is the creative director of Lines Lab Fashion (LL Fashion). Distinct from other fashion stores in Macau, LL Fashion is a place both for working, commercial showcasing and provision of a range of creative services. LL Fashion not only sells their products in Macau, but also exports to Europe. Brito is a member of the Macau Fashion Club and Creative Centre Institute as well. She is originally from Lisbon and came to Macau two years ago. LL Fashion is operated by Brito and her partner Manuel Correia da Silva.

"Macau is in the middle of Asia and Asia is growing!" Brito stated. That also is one of the reasons that make her choose Macau as a location where she would like to develop her career. "Macau is a city that has a great potential for a business to develop, it's small but it helps me to concentrate on my work," she said.

"Many of our clients are from Hong Kong; some of them come to Macau just for visiting our shop," said Brito. "But we do not plan to move to Hong Kong because we used to live in big cities, I love Macau and it's a comfortable city."

As a foreign fashion designer, Brito considers the field of creative and fashion in Macau is "a bit poor but growing." "We need feedbacks to grow up," she added. "Macau people don't have the feeling of things that are made locally! I don't mean that outside things are bad but I think it needs a balance between the inside and outside."

This lack of appreciation for locally made products may make Macau not a perfect place for Brito to develop her fashion career but she will not give up. As she mentioned: "We need to be strong and competitive!" According to Brito, it is not easy for foreign fashion designers to survive in the fashion market of Macau. If you want to know more how creative and competitive their products are, why not visit their shop yourself? LL Fashion is located in 2 & 2E Beco da Melancia Loja .
