Mandarin Oriental,
world’s top 10 casinos Macao’s reputation as the Oriental Monte Carlo was reiterated as Forbes.com published its list of the 10 best casinos in the world in February; Mandarin Oriental Hotel Macao made the cut on the list as Asia’s only representative. According to Forbes, there are two kinds of gambling people in the casino. One is the well-heeled amateur, who enjoys the process of gambling as well as the environment and service. The other is the hard-core gambler, who is addicted only to gambling. The Forbes' selection concentrates only on casinos which cater to well-heeled amateurs who have the cash to play, want the best and are likely to bring along their families and want them to be entertained while they themselves are hitting the tables. Besides Macao’s Mandarin Oriental, the other casinos on Forbes list include: St. James Club, Antigua; Atlantis, Bahamas; Clermont Club, London; Casino Baden-Baden, Germany; Casino de Monte Carlo, Monaco; Casino Metropol, Moscow; Sun City, South Africa; Bellagio, Las Vegas, Borgata in Atlantic City, both in the US. The selection criteria is not based on the total number of people in the casino, the total amount people bet on or how many games are in the casino. It emphasizes primarily the elegance of the hotel and the casino. The casino itself is not so much decisive as the quality of the hotel, which must have excellent facilities and can attract wealthy families to enjoy their vacation. The Mandarin Oriental Macao is a five-star hotel. Its casino opens 24 hours a day with 11 table games and 59 slot machines. It entertains wealthy customers who are willing to spend for luxury, elegance and extravagance. Though the casino is a little bit small, the hotel’s facilities are first grade.
