C-Plus is a name that reflects a common interest of two students - Jones Cho Lam Chong and Terence Chi Iong Chui - of different universities.

The origin of the name “C-Plus”

C-Plus means however more than a result of combining the first letter of each surname of the two singers.

Chui explained, “C-Plus is equivalent to 'C+', a result of report cards, meaning 75 points.” He added, “This is the mark we gave ourselves and it means we need to work harder in order to gain the perfect 100 points.”

C-Plus Achievements

Chong and Chui composed songs, designed images and did marketing, planning and promotion for their first album, Dream, which was released in 2001, during the Christmas time.

“Lonely Christmas,” a song of their first album, was recognised after the copyright of the work was sold to Mr. Eason Chan, a Hong Kong canto-pop singer. The song became one of the Top 10 Albums at that time.

Before C-Plus came to the stage, Chui and Chong participated in singing contests. They did not win any prize but did not give up, practising more their singing skills whenever they were free. In 1995, the song “Tomorrow” that they composed won a prize.

C-Plus was officially formed in 1996 and started to join different kinds of singing contests and performances in Macao and outside the territory. The group earned recognition in the events “EEG New Singers Singing Contest” in Hong Kong in 2000, “Asian New Singers in Shanghai” in 2001, “Taiwan Kaohsiung Hong Kong and Macao Teenagers Singing Contest” in 2002.

C-Plus Future Plan

Chui shared with UMac Bridges that, they would release an album in Hong Kong in 2003. The aim was to promote local music to the region. In the meantime, it became their routines to compose songs for themselves for other local singers.

No matter how hard it would be and how many problems they would face, C-Plus would look for solutions. The only reason is - “We love music,” C-Plus emphasised.
