"Have you eaten yet?" is a literal translation of a common greeting usually made among the Chinese people to start a conversation on the phone or when meeting people in the street. In fact, food and eating are actually inseparable activities, especially when you go travelling. Here are the brief introduction of some popular food or dishes in famous travel destinations such as China, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand and Singapore.

Many people may have heard of this common saying, "Eat in Guangzhou and Hong Kong." This statement indicates that Chinese culinary arts are famous to many people. Shangdong is famous for its seafood cooking. Sichuan is famous for its aromatic and spicy sauces in chillies and hot peppers, while Guangdong cuisine always makes use of many ingredients that are fresh, tender and of crisp textures. On the other hand, Kunming becomes a popular travel destination recently because of its attractive mountain scenery. Beside this, it is also a beautiful place with famous dishes, such as shark's fin with egg-white, sea cucumber in crisp rice, braised pigeon eggs in brown sauce, chicken kidneys with bamboo shoots, chicken shreds with pork joint and ham in milk pie, to name a few.

If you think this is common dish, you can challenge your courage by trying unusual food: crickets, water beetles, scorpions, bamboo worms, or red ant eggs. For example, crickets served with cold beer and red ant eggs served on toast or Thai salad give you a different relish. You can try when you visit Thailand.

If these dishes make you lose your appetite, here is a kind of traditional Korean food: "Kimchi", which can stimulate your appetite and is full of vitamin C and fibre. It is a popular vegetable dish like Chinese pickled vegetables and is mainly served along with the main course. "Kimchi Expo" is a new international food festival to celebrate this traditional food during winter time in Korea.

Lastly, many favourable fruits are available in Singapore. Examples are dukus, durians, jackfruits, lychees, mangoes, mangosteens, rambutans, papayas, star fruits, and watermelons. Singapore is also a country famous for its seafood and laksa (curry noodles).

It is true that it is easy to find different types of restaurants, for example, Shanghai restaurant, Korean restaurant and Japanese restaurant, all over the world, but if you want to experience the original taste of the food, you should go to the country of origin to taste it yourself.
