On a cloudy night, vampires and other kinds of awful and strange figures suddenly appear in front of you. How would you react? Freeze to death? You shouldn't. They were just participants of the Halloween Masquerade.
Every year, the Ichiban Club and the Japanese Studies of the Faculty of Business Administration holds a Halloween Masquerade. This year it took place at the Café †˜ Antique Car on October 24. All the students were welcome to participate. Two types of ticket packages were sold in advance at the university. The ticket with two drinks or snacks cost MOP70; the one with one drink or snacks cost MOP50.
Around 10:30pm, lots of people had gathered at the door of the Café †˜ . There were vampires, long hair ghosts, the Adam's family and many others awful-looking creatures. "I have spent lots of time and patience to figure out how to make my masquerade," said Joyce Ip, a year-two FBA Accounting student, who was dressed as a long hair ghost with lots of blood covering her face. "I went especially to Hong Kong to buy this wig, this costume was made by myself. I wish that I can be the winner of the best masquerade tonight."
The first game of the night was the beer drinking competition. The participants who could drink a glass of beer within the shortest time could get a secret prize. There were about 10 participants, three of them were girls.
The way to choose the best masquerade was by voting. Not all of the people wore a special make-up while a group of people who dressed themselves as the Adam's family didn't join the masquerade competition. Throughout the night, there were lots of vampires moving around in the Café †˜ . That made the atmosphere of the night horrible and also interesting.
"The purpose of this night is for students to relax as they have too heavy a workload in the university," said Samuel Lee, a year-three FBA Japanese Studies student, who is one of the organizers of the night. "We decided to make this function for them to have fun. Every year, the night is successful. The responses are very positive and we have to thank the students for their support."
Around 3:00am, people started to leave. Though looking sleepy and tired, most of them had a smile on their face, they seemed to have enjoyed the night a lot. "I may join this activity again next year. I have made two new friends just tonight. I've had lots of fun and am very satisfied," said Mimi Ma, a pre-university student.
