Centre for Early Childhood Education and Child Development

 

The Centre for Early Childhood Education and Child Development (CECECD), an institute affiliated with FED, was established in the fall of 2014. The CECECD aims to develop a high quality early childhood research team in Macau and in the Greater China region; to provide a platform for researchers and practitioners to engage in dynamic scholarly exchanges in this region and beyond; and to serve the local community through an array of services with an emphasis on teacher professional development.

 

Mission

• To conduct quality research in early childhood education and child development in Macau, the Greater China region, and internationally by a high-performing, multidisciplinary team sharing a common goal of making a difference in the lives of young children and their families.

• To contribute to best practice in early childhood education and child development in this region and internationally, applying scientifically sound and evidence-based research.

Symposium on Transition from Preschool to Elementary School - Evidences from Zhongshan, Guangdong

Abstract
The aim of the symposium is to enhance the participants' understanding of the significance of the longitudinal study so that they will be more likely to support the follow-up study during elementary school years in the next five years.

 

Early Childhood Workshop on Transition from Kindergarten to Primary School

Participants: Representatives from Zhongshan Education and Sports Bureau Division including 60 local preschool and primary school principals

 

Abstract
The workshop will bring together scholars, policy makers and practitioners to discuss how to enhance child development through improving the quality of early childhood education.  Specifically, the speakers will share research findings from the project: A Longitudinal Study on the Effect of Preschool Program Quality on Children’s Learning and Development Outcome. Discussions will revolve around identifying family- and school-level factors influential of children’s successful transition from preschool to primary school.
